BBL® HEROic TM emits light with wavelengths ranging from 400 to 1400 nm, which allows the treatment parameters to be tailored to the individual needs of the Patient. The use of innovative automation and control systems ensures precise coverage of the treatment area and eliminates the risk of skin overheating, which translates into a high level of treatment safety, effectiveness, and short recovery period.

BBL® HEROic TM molecular (gene) rejuvenation

BBL® HEROic TM broadband light therapies not only eliminate visible skin problems and imperfections, but also address their root causes at the cellular level.

In a research* published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, scientists from Stanford University demonstrated that BBL (BroadBand Light) treatments can rejuvenate the skin not only visually, but also at the molecular level. Skin samples were taken from research participants who underwent three BBL treatments and gene expression was compared with that of young (19–30 years old) and older (55+).

It turned out that after BBL therapy, more than 1,200 genes in the skin changed their activity and began to function similarly to those in young skin. This included genes responsible for DNA repair, collagen production, and cellular immunity.

Importantly, after therapy, the pattern of gene activity in the skin began to resemble the profile typical for people around 25 years of age. This means that skin cells – under the influence of BBL light – begin to behave like much younger cells.

This is the first study to confirm that BBL actually reverses the biological signs of aging—it not only improves the appearance of the skin, but also triggers rejuvenation processes from within.

Thanks to advanced cooling systems and precise parameter adjustment, the procedure is minimally invasive. Depending on the treatment protocol, the type of lesions being treated, and the individual skin reaction after the procedure using BBL light, the following may occur: redness, a feeling of warmth or slight burning, darkening of discoloration, and gentle exfoliation of the epidermis. These symptoms are temporary and usually disappear within a few days at most. A combination of several procedures and different wavelengths in one treatment. BBL® destroys the bacteria that cause acne vulgaris, helping to reduce pustules, blackheads, and excessive sebum secretion. It soothes inflammation and redness of the skin, smoothes its texture, and improves the appearance of minor acne scars.

The Quick Change Smart Filters TM system allows for quick and easy filter changes, so that a single BBL® HEROic TM treatment is often a combination of several procedures using different wavelengths of light, fully tailored to the needs of the skin and the Patient's expectations.

The BBL® HEROic TM wavelength range is from 400 nm to 1400 nm, which allows for precise targeting of various chromophores in the skin, such as melanin (skin pigment), hemoglobin (found in blood vessels), and water contained in skin structures:

420 nm: Waves of this length are used to treat acne vulgaris. They destroy Propionibacterium acnes bacteria, which are responsible for dermatosis, reduce inflammation, regulate sebum secretion, and soothe redness.
532+™: Enables precise treatment of minor vascular lesions, such as telangiectasia, and difficult-to-remove pigmentation lesions, including seborrheic keratoses.
515-1400 nm: Allows for the reduction of pigmentation lesions such as discoloration, including sun spots (solar lentigo) and melasma. BBL light is absorbed by the pigment contained in skin cells, which leads to the breakdown of accumulated pigment and lightening of lesions.
560-1400 nm: Treats vascular lesions such as erythema and telangiectasia. The light is absorbed by hemoglobin in the blood vessels, causing selective damage and removal of the lesion.
640-1400 nm – Skin Smooth Protocol: Waves of this length act on the deeper layers of the skin, evening out its tone and improving its tension. The therapy supports skin regeneration and improves its texture.
590ST-1400 nm, 695ST-1400nm, 800ST-1400 nm – Skin Tyte protocols: The light heats the deep layers of the skin and collagen fibers, causing them to contract and stimulating the production of new ones. This leads to improved elasticity and reduces the appearance of wrinkles. BBL restores the expression of hundreds of genes to the level characteristic of young skin cells, so the rejuvenation process takes place at the molecular level.

BBL® HEROic TM procedure

Before each treatment, the person performing the treatment conducts a medical interview to rule out any contraindications to the therapy and to discuss the treatment plan and the Patient's expectations and needs. The treatment area is thoroughly cleaned. Before the treatment, the Patient is given protective glasses to protect their eyes from the intense light emitted by the device.

A special conductive gel is applied to the skin to improve contact between the head and the skin surface, increase the comfort of the treatment, and facilitate the even distribution of light pulses.

The treatment is performed using a head, which the specialist applies to the treated area or moves across the skin. The platform emits a series of precise light pulses individually tailored to the Patient's skin problem and phototype. The light energy is absorbed by melanin, hemoglobin, or other chromophores in the skin, which leads to a selective effect on pigmentation and vascular changes or, for example, stimulation of the production of new collagen fibers.

The treatment usually involves several passes, i.e., passages of the treatment head over the selected area of skin. The treatment can last from a few minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the area being treated and the type of therapy. During the procedure, the Patient may feel warmth, tingling, or a “rubber band snap” sensation. The treatment is described by most Patients as comfortable, and the device is equipped with a cooling system.

BBL® HEROic TM Effects

The results of treatments using BBL broadband light are multidimensional and, depending on the problem being treated, include:

BBL® HEROic TM How long does it take to see results?

In some cases, the first results are visible immediately or within a few days after the treatment. However, it usually takes several to several weeks to see the results. The number of treatments required depends on the indications and selected treatment protocols, but usually several treatments at specific intervals are recommended to achieve optimal results. A detailed treatment plan is created based on the type and severity of the problem being treated, the Patient's skin type, and many other factors.

The effects of the treatments may vary depending on the individual characteristics of the Patient, the number of treatment repetitions, compliance with post-treatment recommendations, and the skill and experience of the person performing the treatment.

BBL® HEROic TM Pre-treatment recommendations

Two weeks before the treatment, avoid sunbathing, both in the sun and in a solarium, and avoid using self-tanning products. A few days before the treatment, do not use cosmetics containing retinoids.

BBL® HEROic TM Recovery

Thanks to its non-invasive nature, this broad-spectrum light treatment require just a very short recovery time. In most cases, the Patient can immediately resume their daily activities. The treatment area may be reddened after the procedure. If discoloration was treated, the changes may darken and then gradually peel off.

BBL® HEROic TM Post-treatment recommendations

After the procedure, it is recommended to avoid direct exposure to the sun and to use SPF 50 sunscreen. The skin should be cared for according to the recommendations of the person who performed the procedure.

BBL® HEROic TM Contraindications

Broadband light treatments are not recommended for all Patients. Contraindications for the treatment include:

Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Tanned skin.
Active skin infections.
Use of photosensitizing drugs or substances.
Skin cancer.

Inform the person performing the treatment about the above contraindications. This knowledge will allow them to decide whether the contraindications listed are relative or absolute obstacles to performing the treatment.
