This laser is extremely effective in removing both black and colored tattoos, including those in green, yellow, or light blue – colors that are considered the most difficult to remove. Course of treatment

Every Patient making an appointment at our Clinic will be asked to arrive approximately 30 minutes before the scheduled treatment. During that time the Patient will fill out the documentation in which agrees to the laser therapy procedure, then an anesthetic cream will be applied or, if requested, an infiltration anaesthesia (anesthetic injection) is possible. Thanks to the use of anesthesia, the treatment is almost painless. Each procedure is preceded by a consultation with the physician, during which the Patient has the opportunity to discuss all issues. The duration of treatment ranges from a few to several minutes, depending on the tattoo size and the number of colors used. The treatment is performed using a picosecond laser Discovery Pico Plus. During the procedure, the physician irradiates the area with the laser beam, which breaks down the ink under the skin. Microscopic particles of ink under the influence of laser are brought to a specific temperature, as a result of which they disintegrate into fine dust, which is then gradually removed from the body by the cells of the immune system. Thanks to the fact that the dye disintegrates into microparticles, they are removed from the body faster and more safely. After the procedure the physician protects the tattoo with a special sterile protective foil.

Thanks to the application of three wavelengths in one device, Discovery Pico Plus laser perfectly removes inks of various colors. The Nd-Yag light source of the Discovery Pico Plus Picosecond Laser emits wavelengths of 1064 nm and 532 nm. The former targets black and dark blue pigment, while the latter targets red, purple, orange, brown pigment. The element that distinguishes Discovery Pico Plus laser from other lasers of this type is an additional laser beam (ruby beam), which enables to remove tattoos with green, light blue and yellow pigment. By using this type of technology we are able to remove inks with colors that were once considered indelible.

Using the strongest picosecond technology allows the pigment of any color to be broken down into a very fine dust, making it much easier and safer to remove from the body, a true innovation in the laser market.

• Selectivity and precision = safety

The laser pulse is short enough to ensure selectivity of the treatment, meaning it does not affect the tissues surrounding the treated area, which increases the safety of treatment and Patient comfort. In addition, the technology used shortens the duration of treatment, reduces the total treatment time and makes the treatment extremely safe. The use of photoacoustic effect, and not the thermal one as in other technologies, reduces the risk of skin overheating or scarring.

In addition, the use of an additional fractional head allows for effective removal of tattoos with scars that show signs of attempts to remove with other laser technology.

Effect

The number of treatments necessary to completely remove a tattoo depends on several factors, including but not limited to: the age and size of the tattoo, its location, color and type of ink it was applied with, and the depth of its application. On average, it is about 8 treatments for black tattoos and about 10 for colored tattoos. For very old tattoos with densely woven pigment and green and yellow color, the number of treatments may be higher. With each treatment the tattoo becomes lighter and in the end it is completely invisible. Sometimes an excellent result in the form of a completely absorbed tattoo is achieved after only 6 treatments. For Patients who wish to partially remove the tattoo and cover it with a new one, the treatment is repeated until the tattoo artist of the Patient’s choice determines that this is possible (usually 2 – 3 treatments are necessary). Treatments are repeated at intervals of 8 weeks. This is the time it takes for the body to remove the pigment broken down during the procedure.

The use of picosecond laser based on ultrashort pulses significantly reduces the period of convalescence. After the procedure, erythema and swelling may appear, which disappears after a few days.

Post-treatment recommendations

The physician will make recommendations on the proper care of treated area. Most often it is recommended that the Patient for a few days after the procedure should use a cream that accelerates healing or cosmetic petroleum jelly. Additionally, after the procedure it is recommended to protect the skin from the sun.
