Course of treatment

First, the Patient’s skin is cleansed of cosmetics or perfumes. In order for laser hair removal to be effective, it is necessary to perform a series of treatments at appropriate intervals determined by the life cycle of the hair, and more specifically, its various phases. During one treatment the laser removes 10-30% of hair from the treatment area. This is because the laser effectively destroys the hair stem cells located in the bulb when the hair is in the growth phase (anagen). When the hair is in the other phases of the life cycle – telegenic or catagen, then the destruction of hair structure by laser is not permanent – the hair grows back. To permanently remove all the hair, the treatment must be performed several times so that all the hair growing in the treatment area are in anagen phase on the day of the procedure. That is why laser hair removal is a process that involves several treatments and may last several months. Optimal results, allowing to enjoy smooth skin for many years is obtained by deciding on a series of treatments. Usually it is from 6 to 8 repetitions at intervals of 6 to 8 weeks. In order to maintain the effect for many years, it is necessary to perform reminding treatments – usually once a year.

How to prepare for the procedure?

• The skin undergoing laser hair reduction treatment must be shaved – on the day before the visit to the treatment a specific part of the body must be shaved with a razor. Mechanical and chemical methods of hair removal (tweezers, depilatories, waxes) must not be used for several weeks before the treatment.
• On the day of treatment, antiperspirants and other products that may cause skin irritation are not allowed.
• If your skin is irritated or dry, apply appropriate moisturizing and soothing creams a few days before.

Recovery

The procedure does not require a period of convalescence, the Patient can return to daily activities immediately after the procedure.

Indications after treatment

The following recommendations should be followed after the procedure:

• Approximately 3-4 weeks after treatment, sun exposure should be avoided. Exposed areas of the treated skin should be protected with SPF 50 sunscreen.
• Immediately after the laser hair removal treatment it is necessary to wear airy, light clothes made of natural fabrics.
• A few days after the treatment it is necessary to avoid swimming pools, saunas, Jacuzzi and abandon intense physical activity.
• A natural symptom after the procedure is temporary swelling and/or redness of the epilated skin area. All these symptoms should subside spontaneously after a few days at the most. While the skin is irritated after the treatment, it should be properly cared for:
  • use a mild gel or tonic for cleansing. It is important that cosmetics do not contain alcohol or intense, irritating fragrances.
  • dry the skin in a gentle manner – do not rub the skin with a rough towel.
  • if you have depilated your underarms, avoid deodorants and antiperspirants.
  • use a soothing cosmetic (cream, ointment) as recommended by your practitioner.
