ZO Skin 3-Step Peel – an innovation in skin exfoliation

ZO Skin 3-Step Peel is an innovative and professional chemical peeling from the renowned brand ZO Skin Health, created by world-renowned dermatologist, researcher and innovator in advanced skin care solutions, Dr. Zein Obagi. ZO Skin 3-Step Peel is not just another peel – it’s a deep, multi-dimensional exfoliation procedure that uses three-step technology to provide epidermal regeneration and dermis stimulation for long-lasting results. A unique combination of three acids (salicylic acid, trichloroacetic acid and lactic acid) combined with the regenerating action of Retinol Crème Complex and soothing Hydrating Crème, is able to exfoliate deep layers of the epidermis and initiate cell renewal processes. As a result, the skin becomes smoothed, rejuvenated, brightened and moisturized, while fine lines and scars become shallower. Due to the fact that the treatment is continued by the Patient at home, its effects are enjoyed longer.

Indications for treatment with ZO Skin 3 Step Peel

The ZO Skin 3-Step Peel is designed to accelerate and regulate cell renewal in the skin. As such, it is perfect for skin that needs this type of stimulation. The peeling will be suitable for Patients, regardless of gender, age and skin type, who have:

  • chloasma (an acquired skin discoloration associated with increased melanin production that occurs in sun-exposed areas)
  • discoloration caused by inflammatory conditions
  • photo-aging
  • fine wrinkles
  • gray or flabby skin
  • enlarged pores

  • acne

With its multidimensional action, ZO Skin 3-Step Peel is also recommended for anyone who wants to improve the overall condition and appearance of their facial skin.

3 Step Peel Zo Skin Health – Procedure flow

As already mentioned, the treatment consists of three stages. After discussing with the Patient his problems and expectations, and after ruling out any contraindications to the procedure, the specialist proceeds to perform the peeling:

Stage 1: Peeling the person performing the treatment protects the area around the eyes, nose wings and lips, and then, using pads, gradually and thoroughly distributes the preparation on the face. At this stage, the exfoliation of the top layer of epidermis and skin stimulation begins.

Step 2: Stimulation after the product is absorbed, Retinol Crème Complex is applied to the face and then gently massaged into the skin. This is to further stimulate the skin and enhance the treatment effects.

Step 3: Moisturizing and Soothing a thin layer of Hydrating Crème is applied to the face to soothe the irritation caused by the peeling, speed up the healing process and protect the skin from negative external factors such as sun exposure.

Stage 4: Care at home – this stage is aimed at maximizing the treatment effects and obtaining the best possible results of the therapy. Details of home care are described in the recommendations after the treatment.

What is the treatment uniqueness?

The innovation of ZO Skin 3-Step Peel is based on the use of preparations with unique composition and action, and a precise protocol of their application to the skin.

Peel Solution – a peeling preparation applied on the skin in the clinic. Due to the fact that it contains three acids of intensive action, it can be applied only by a qualified specialist. The peeling contains salicylic (17%), trichloroacetic (10%) and lactic (5%) acids. These substances are responsible for exfoliating the top layer of the epidermis and starting skin regeneration from the inside.

Retinol Crème Complex – a preparation designed to enhance the effect of peeling containing 4 active ingredients:

  • Retinol complex (6%), which stimulates the skin to regenerate and rebuild, and stimulates collagen production.
  • Coenzyme Q10 – a strong antioxidant widely appreciated by physicians and Patients. It shows activity stimulating cellular regeneration processes.
  • Blend of plant stem cells that fight free radicals and have anti-inflammatory effects while exhibiting antioxidant properties.
  • Beta-glucan, which is responsible for soothing and calming the skin.

Hydrating Crème – designed to soothe post-treatment irritation, as well as protect skin from harsh external factors and accelerate healing time. Contains:

  • Japanese coneflower root extract, which has a moisturizing and anti-inflammatory effect and provides a protective barrier to the skin.
  • Myristoyl Pentapeptide-11 – under this strange name is a peptide responsible for tissue reconstruction and accelerating the healing process by regulating the cell cycle.
  • Antioxidants complex that inhibits the production of free radicals, thus stopping the skin aging process.
  • Tetrapeptide-21 – hydrates and strengthens the skin by stimulating hyaluronic acid production and fibroblast action.
  • Colloidal Oatmeal (1%) which soothes, calms, moisturizes and protects dry, itchy and flaky skin.
  • Beta-glucan, which is also responsible for soothing and calming the skin.
  • Glycerin to moisturize and retain moisture in the skin.

Effects after using the Zo Skin 3-Step Peel

The ingredients in ZO Skin 3-Step Peel allow you to achieve amazing results in improving the appearance of your complexion. The peeling deeply cleanses and nourishes the skin, making it smooth, moisturized and soft. As the dead skin is exfoliated, the Patient gradually begins to notice a completely transformed complexion – brighter, soothed and vibrant. By stimulating cells to rebuild, as well as stimulating the production of collagen and natural hyaluronic acid, wrinkles, lines and scars become shallower, giving the face a youthful appearance. For the same reasons, ZO Skin 3-Step Peel helps to improve the elasticity of flabby skin and the color of gray skin. Moreover, the beneficial ingredients of the preparation restore an even skin tone, reducing discoloration, both acne and sun-induced. Pores are narrowed, giving the skin a smooth and even texture.

Retinol Crème Complex, used during the treatment and in the subsequent home care, stimulates the process of cellular rejection, reduces sebum production and strengthens the lipid barrier of the epidermis. Therefore, 3-Step Peel ZO Skin Health is also recommended for people struggling with acne vulgaris – thanks to its regenerating, brightening and soothing properties it contributes to the fight against this ailment. But that’s not all! The treatment prevents formation of new discolorations, keeping the skin moisturized, refreshed and full of glow for a long time.

Indications before treatment

In order to properly prepare the skin for the procedure and enhance its effect, especially in people prone to hyperpigmentation, the Patient should implement care adapted to their skin type 4-6 weeks before the first peeling. In our Clinic, Patients opting for the Zo Skin 3-Step Peel receive the necessary home care products to maximize the treatment effect – Zo Skin Hydrating Crème (travel size) and a sachet of retinol. For those whose skin is prone to hyperpigmentation, it is recommended that post-treatment home care be enhanced with appropriate cosmetics (e.g., we usually suggest Pigment Control Crème, Blending Crème or ZO Brightening Protocol).

Other recommendations that the Patient should follow prior to the exfoliation include:

  • Retinoids should be discontinued 3-4 days prior to treatment
  • Patient should stop using alpha-hydroxy acids, beta-hydroxy acids, benzoyl peroxide and retinol 3-4 days before peeling
  • 5-7 days before the procedure should not use laser hair removal, waxing and depilatory creams
  • 5-7 days before treatment, the Patient should avoid hydrolysis
  • Before performing a peeling, the skin should be completely healed after laser treatments as well as after treatments such as microdermabrasion, photo-rejuvenation or removal of discoloration
  • Patients with herpes should begin treatment the day before the procedure and continue until the peeling series is complete

Indications after treatment

Although the ZO Skin 3-Step Peel is a non-invasive and safe procedure, the Patient should follow certain guidelines to minimize the risk of side effects and maximize the beneficial effects of the peeling. Below is a list of indications that outlines what the Patient should avoid:

  • Sun exposure for about 7-10 days after treatment (sunscreen can be used only after the skin has completely healed)
  • Washing the treated area for at least 5 hours after the peeling (it is recommended to do it the next day)
  • Tearing off detached cuticles, rubbing and scratching the skin while it heals
  • Directing the water jet directly at your face when taking a shower
  • Excessive exertion and sweating
  • Do not undergo microdermabrasion, photo-rejuvenation, hyperpigmentation removal or laser treatments until healed

Home care carried out by the Patient is extremely important. Our Clinic offers products necessary for proper skin care both before and after the procedure. Do not worry about the abundance of information – your physician will explain to you exactly when to use particular preparations. Remember the day after the peeling:

  • Wash face with Getting Skin Ready ZO Skin Health gel, massaging gently for 30-40 seconds, then rinse and gently pat skin dry
  • Apply and gently spread Retinol Crème Complex
  • Apply a thin layer of Hydrating Crème

Hydrating Crème can be applied 3 times a day, or more often, depending on the Patient’s needs. The above care should be used until the skin is healed, then the Patient can return to daily ZO Skin Health care.

Recovery

After treatment with ZO Skin 3-Step Peel, the Patient does not require any recovery period and can return to daily activities immediately after the procedure. The skin will begin to exfoliate for about 2-3 days after the procedure. The exfoliation should stop on day 5 after the peeling. Exfoliation, as well as itching, burning, redness, darkening of skin tone and mild swelling are completely natural symptoms and should cease until the skin is completely healed.
