Drooping cheeks

Drooping cheeks are one of the most characteristic signs of skin aging. With age, our skin loses density and becomes more flabby, causing the inverted triangle proportions characteristic of young faces to disappear. Falling cheeks make the face less attractive, it takes on a sad and tired expression, and the structure of the lines at the border of the face and neck is disrupted.

There are now many modern methods that restore skin firmness making the oval of the face look young again. In Zakrzewscy Clinic we offer a range of therapies that lift drooping cheeks and firm flabby parts of the face.

Why cheeks droop with age

Over time, many changes occur on the face due to the aging process of the body. Above the age of thirty, the fatty tissue under the skin is significantly reduced, making the face appear slimmer and more "adult.” At the same time, collagen and elastin stored under the skin break down, causing the skin to become loose, drooping and eventually flabby. This process worsens in the following years of life.

Collagen and elastin levels in the dermis are also reduced by factors such as UV skin exposure, environmental pollutants, cigarette smoke, poor diet, and excessive alcohol consumption. Cheeks may also droop as a result of rapid weight loss.

Skin firming treatments

There are many treatments to improve skin tone in the jaw and cheek area. Most of them are designed to stimulate collagen production in the skin and firm up flabby areas of the face.

The most commonly used non-invasive therapies for improving skin firmness include ultrasound and laser treatments. They are designed to stimulate collagen production by heating the subcutaneous tissues. Positive effects of the therapy are usually visible after a few months after completing a series of treatments.

If you want more noticeable results, aesthetic medicine specialists recommend minimally invasive therapies such as microneedle radiofrequency, laser lifting, needle mesotherapy or volumetric lifting.

The best results to reduce flabby cheek skin and improve facial oval are obtained by undergoing a surgical procedure – facelift. However, this method requires a long recovery period and carries the risk of serious side effects of surgery.

Who can undergo minimally invasive therapies to improve facial skin firmness

Most people can safely undergo a minimally invasive procedure to improve skin tone. The best results are obtained by individuals who:

  • have a normal body weight
  • eat healthy
  • do not smoke cigarettes
  • protect their skin from the sun’s rays and avoid solarium
  • have skin with slight signs of flabby.

Contraindications to undergoing minimally invasive therapy to improve cheek skin tone include:

  • pregnancy
  • skin infection
  • certain medications.

Treatments improving firmness of face skin in the Zakrzewscy Clinic of Aesthetic Medicine and Dermatology

At the Clinic, we offer our Patients a range of modern therapies designed to improve skin tone and firmness. Treatments individually adapted to each Patient make the cheeks lift, and the oval of the face takes on the desired shape of an "inverted triangle" again.

Treatments for drooping cheeks include:

  1. Volumetric lifting – a therapy involving subcutaneous injection of a preparation containing hyaluronic acid, thanks to which wrinkles become shallow, cheekbones become more prominent and cheeks gain their natural, rounded shape.
  1. SonoQueen – a non-invasive therapy that stimulates the skin to regenerate and rebuild from the inside. The focused ultrasound wave penetrates deep into the skin inducing a process of thermal coagulation, thanks to which new collagen fibers are created and the Patient’s skin quickly becomes firmer.
  2. Thermolifting – laser face lift using NIR infrared light and Alma Pixel CO2 laser. The light beam heats up the skin causing shortening of collagen fibers and stimulation of fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin. This painless and safe procedure quickly brings satisfactory results in the form of improving facial skin tone.
  3. Calcium hydroxypatite (Crystalys) – a minimally invasive procedure involving subcutaneous injection of Crystalys, which fills wrinkles and stimulates the skin to produce new collagen fibers. Positive treatment effects are immediate and persist for over a year.
  1. Needle mesotherapy – a minimally invasive therapy involving subcutaneous injection of a preparation based on hyaluronic acid enriched with substances with moisturizing and antioxidant properties. The treatment deeply revitalizes and nourishes the skin from the inside, improving its firmness, structure and color.
  2. Endermology treatment – a facial massage using an innovative device LPG Alliance Endermolift, which in a natural way stimulates fibroblasts in the dermis to intense collagen production. As a result, a significant improvement in skin firmness and density occurs.
  1. Acoustic Wave – a non-invasive treatment using acoustic and vibration waves, which mechanically improve cell metabolism and stimulate the formation of new blood vessels. As a result, skin elasticity is improved and wrinkles and skin imperfections are reduced.

Treatments lifting drooping cheeks are preceded by a medical consultation. During the consultation the physician of our Clinic gets acquainted with the Patient’s expectations about the condition of skin and together establishes the plan and scope of treatments necessary to obtain satisfactory results. In Zakrzewscy Clinic Patients can also benefit from firming treatments for other parts of the body, including improving the firmness of drooping mouth corners or removing the double chin.
