Indications for phototherapy treatment

Phototherapy with the use of LED Dermalux Tri-Wave MD is an extremely versatile treatment indicated for many dermatological problems, both in women and men. The therapy is suitable especially for people struggling with skin diseases – acne (common, but also cystic, pustular and rosaceous), psoriasis, hyperpigmentation, post-sun keratosis, vitiligo, inflammatory conditions and even some skin cancers.

Another indication for treatment are skin imperfections such as wrinkles, uneven skin tone, loss of firmness, excessive sebum secretion and scars, which are treated with light waves causing increased production of collagen and elastin. Moreover, phototherapy contributes to shrinking of dilated blood vessels and supports treatment of erythema. What is important, therapy with LED lamps improves the overall skin condition – it counteracts the aging process, brings soothing, moisturizing and firmness to the skin as well as helps to heal irritations and reduce pain that may have occurred after other treatments.

Phototherapy with LED Dermalux Tri-Wave MD also brings amazing results in the fight against stretch marks, affecting the reduction of their visibility and intensity. It also supports the treatment of excessive hair loss and alopecia. What is extremely important, the treatment brings pain relief in case of osteoarthritis, neuralgia and diabetic neuropathy.

Course of phototherapy treatment

Phototherapy does not cause any pain or discomfort – on the contrary, it has a relaxing and analgesic effect, and therefore does not require any anaesthesia. Before starting the treatment, the practitioner interviews the Patient with regard to the health condition, type of problem and the pharmacotherapy used in order to determine the Patient’s expectations and to select the method that will bring the best results. Then the physician selects the appropriate wavelength of light (red light, blue light, near infrared or a combination thereof) and determines the optimal duration of treatment. One session lasts about 20-30 minutes. During the session, a given body area is irradiated with the LED Dermalux Tri-Wave MD and the skin absorbs light of a given color. The Patient may feel slight warmth resulting from the stimulation of circulation. An important advantage of the therapy is that it does not require any period of convalescence and the effects are visible after the first treatment.

Dermalux Tri-Wave MD Technology

The technology of phototherapy with LED Dermalux Tri-Wave MD is based on the use of light, known for centuries, in the treatment of various ailments and diseases. The method involves the emission of blue (415 nm), red (633 nm) or near-infrared (830 nm) light by the LED lamp which penetrates the skin to a specified depth, depending on the wavelength of light. The treatment may involve the use of a single color of light, or a combination of both, depending on the results to be achieved. The Dermalux system takes into account only safe and clinically tested wavelengths of light which can be divided into:

  • Red light (633 nm) – naturally stimulates skin regeneration and contributes to skin rejuvenation by stimulating collagen and elastin production responsible for smoothing and firming the skin. This length of light also supports the lymphatic system, removal of toxins and proper blood circulation. It has a revitalizing effect, contributes to shallowing of wrinkles, increasing hydration and elasticity of the skin and equalizing its color.
  • Blue light (415 nm) – has an antibacterial effect, which supports the treatment of any type of acne by eliminating anaerobic p.acnes bacteria without the side effects of irritation. It contributes to improving the appearance of all skin types thanks to its soothing properties and reducing excessive sebum secretion. What’s more, it prevents the recurrence of disease symptoms in the future.
  • Near Infrared (830nm) – penetrates the skin to the greatest depth, thus effectively regenerating tissues and reducing scars. Moreover, this type of light has a strong anti-inflammatory effect, thanks to which it is also suitable for treating all types of acne and psoriasis. It also reduces pigmentation, contributing to skin rejuvenation. This length of light exhibits the greatest analgesic effect, which is why it is used for Patients seeking to relieve pain resulting from various conditions and diseases.
  • Tri-Wave MD therapy – is a combination of all the previously described colors and thus allows to treat several problems simultaneously. This solution allows for individual adjustment of the treatment to the Patient and achieving the most beneficial results in the shortest possible time.

Effects of treatment with the Dermalux lamp

The first effects of phototherapy are visible immediately after the treatment. Depending on the color of light used, the frequency and number of treatments, the effects in individual Patients may vary. The fastest noticeable change is the improvement of skin hydration and firmness. Patients notice a visible shallowing of wrinkles, improvement in skin tone, and reduction in discoloration. Inflammation and skin irritation are also alleviated, as are acne lesions, which visibly diminish. The skin becomes regenerated and elastic, and signs of aging are reduced. Patients affected by hair loss notice a significant improvement in this area. Scars and stretch marks gradually become shallower and less visible. The pain accompanying the Patients is also reduced and thus the treatments also have a therapeutic dimension.
