Whiteheads
Whiteheads are small, millimeter-sized cysts containing keratin that appear just below the skin surface. These hard, pearly white nodules, which look like pus-filled pustules, are usually found in large numbers around the eyes (including the eyelids), on the temples, forehead and nose in both children and adults. Although whiteheads do not pose a health risk and are not contagious, they can be a nuisance for aesthetic reasons. Therefore, many people choose to have them removed at a dermatologist’s office.
